Charlie Company Commander Cadet Captain Michael Burgess – Michael Burgess was born in Sacramento, California on May 23rd, 1995. At the age of four, he and his family moved form there to Salem, Oregon, where he has since lived, moving to multiple homes and schools. He is currently enrolled at North Salem High School. He is the son of Sabrina Rogers and Rick Burgess.

            Michael joined JROTC his sophomore year.  In his 2nd year of JROTC, he was promoted to a corporal, and was a team leader in Charlie Company. During this year at JCLC, Michael was a squad leader. Early in his 3rd year Michael was promoted to a platoon leader for Bravo Company. However, he was later raised to the rank of captain and his now the Charlie Company Commander.
            In his 1st year as a cadet, Michael was awarded the citizenship award, and in his 2nd year was awarded the JROTC Army Recruiting Command Award for achievement. Now as a let 3, Michael is a new member of the JROTC pt team, and although he is not currently on the traveling team, He is working hard and hoping to reach that point.
            Michael is hoping to join the Air Force as a Chaplain Officer.  Religion is very important to him and he has always known he wanted to join a branch of the military. He hopes to go to Colorado Christian University, majoring in both Theology and Physiology.

Charlie Company First Sergeant Haile Borup- Haile Borup was born in Hermiston, Oregon on May 20, 1996; she moved from state to state when she was little. About the time she turned six she moved to Salem, Oregon and hasn’t left since. Haile is currently a junior at North Salem High School.

Haile joined JROTC the second semester of her freshmen year as a way to be a better citizen. Her sophomore year she was a Team Leader in Alpha Company. In her junior year she started off in September in a Platoon Sergeant position and on October 18, 2012 she became the Charlie Company 1SG.

She has been awarded an Outstanding Citizenship award and a bronze medal for unarmed duels competition. Haile has gone to the Northwest Leadership Conference and looks forward to being a counselor at the conference, is also going to apply to go to Girls State with the American Legion. She is a member, Squad Leader, and Assistant-Commander on the Unarmed Drill Team; which she joined her sophomore year.

C/1SG Haile Borup aspires to be a nurse practitioner and hopefully come back to help the Unarmed Drill Team after she graduates. She also wants to have a family and get her children involved in the fantastic JROTC program at North Salem High School.
