S-1 Adjutant

S-1 Adjutant officer, Cadet Captain Genissis Castillo-Cadet Captain Genessis Castillo was born in Anaheim, CA. She was born in the MartinLutherKingHospitalon June 21st, 1994. Genessis is the oldest of three children. She lives with her mom, Mariela, dad, Juan, and two sisters. Genessis attended Swegle Elementary for kindergarten, Grant Elementary for first through fifth grade,GrantMiddle School for sixth through eighth grade, and for her high school years she has gone toNorthSalemHigh School. After graduation she wants to go toOregonStateUniversity.

Genessis has been in JROTC since her freshman year. She was promoted to C/PVT as a squad member. When she was a sophomore she got promoted to a team leader. By the time she was a junior, it was her third year in JROTC and she got promoted to C/SFC as first platoon sergeant, Bravo Company. This year as a senior Genessis is the S-1 for the North Salem High School Viking Battalion.

Genessis joined the Lady Vikings Unarmed Drill team her third year in JROTC as a junior. This year she is the third squad leader for the unarmed drill team, she is also a member of Color Guard A, The Varangian guard. She is currently a member of the Viking Battalion Staff. Her sophomore year she was awarded the American Legion General Military Scholastics medal. Junior year she received the Outstanding Citizenship medal. She has also received medals for placing in unarmed dual drill competitions.

Genessis’ position in the Viking battalion is the S-1. Her job in the battalion is to keep the records of individual cadets and the battalion as a whole. She is in charge of posting promotions and awards that cadets have earned. She distributes phone rosters to Commanders and First Sergeants, as well as updating the JROTC database, JUMS. She is assisted by the S-1 assistant C/2LT Delia Torres, and three Company admin assistants, Connor Hauenstein, Carman Yarnell, and Austin Borup.
